I am a complete beginner, is this for me?"

Definitely! Our club is friendly and we encourage anyone with an interest in photography to come along and learn new skills no matter what level you are.
Do I need to own a camera?

Well no not really but it does help! You don't need the best camera on the market to take a picture, in fact most people nowadays have a mobile phone in their pocket which also contains a camera. Our club has received mobile phone pictures in competitions!
Will I learn anything by joining the club?

Of course! With the knowledge base of our members, the fantastic speakers and great practical opportunities there's always chances to learn new skills and be inspired to improve your photography whatever your skill.
Is it always competitions, practical evenings and talks?"

We all like to let our hair down once in while so we do incorporate fun social evenings into the programme. Some members even visit The Crown pub next door afterwards so you are welcome to join them.
Do I have to enter images into the club competitions?

Not if you don't want to. However, we do encourage all members to do so. This is because the judges we choose are very experienced and always offer constructive criticism meaning you get feedback on your images to help you improve. Plus, our club offers 2 levels of skill for all of our members (intermediate & advanced). As a new member you will be placed in the intermediate group with other new members.
Do I have to pay my subscription before i attend?

We are a friendly club and confident that what we offer is great value for money so your first 3 visits to the club are completely free of charge. If it's not for you then you don't pay. Also, your 1st year of membership is 1/2 price!
Do I need to attend every week?

You are not committed to attend every week, however, with such a great programme of guest speakers, practical evenings, competitions and social evenings you probably won't be able to stay away!
Why do you only run from September to May?

We actually run all year through if you count the many photographic outings we arrange during the summer months. The Friday evenings between September and May give us an opportunity to stay warm and dry whilst learning something new!
Do I have to book a place?

We always welcome new people to our club so no there is no need to book. However, it's always nice to know that someone new will be there so we can meet and greet you. There is a contact us form on the website so please contact us.
