There then followed a brief run through of the Projects Group and Distinctions Groups for the new members who joined us on the evening. The remainder of the night was a casual social time spent chatting with new and existing members.

Laura Pilon has a photo featured in Outdoor Photography Magazine

We would like to congratulate Laura who has had one of her photos featured in the latest edition of Outdoor Photography Magazine.
Outdoor Photography
Magazine, issue 286
October 2022
The magazine feature is called “if you only do one thing this month” and the subject was “local landscapes”.
Article:
While walking in woodland close to my home in Leicestershire, I had spotted a pair of trees whose trunks & lower branches mirrored each other. Because the location is only a few minutes from home, I decided to visit it when conditions were optimal. When I woke up on a foggy morning, I was able to grab my camera and get there in time to capture this image.

Congratulations to Barry Chidlow

We would like to congratulate Barry who recently won a competition in Canon EOS Magazine.
Photography specification:
Canon EOS R with a Canon RF
24-105 f4 IS USM Lens.
Taken at 105 mm / ISO 100 /
f11 / Shutter .3 sec
Barry says:

The competition was in the Canon EOS Magazine. It is called the reader’s challenge. In the last quarters edition, it was called “Tools of the Trade” in whatever way you wanted to portray them. In the previous quarter there was an article by an American photographer called Glen McClure, www.glenmcclure.com who during lock down wanted to do something different. He chose vintage tools and that was the inspiration for me to have ago.

I had a collection of tools some belonged to my father and some I borrowed. I set about by creating a DIY studio in my garage, using three lights, a step ladder, a hand painted background (painted by my three grandchildren the day before the shoot) a piece of Yew from my workshop, clips, some string, some fishing line, my tripod and my camera. In all I shot about 100 assorted images. Using different lighting, set ups and tools. In the end with a strong feeling of connection and nostalgia I choose the image of my father’s square and screwdriver. Edited a little in Lightroom and Photoshop.

2022-23 Season has started

We had a very successful open evening on Friday 16th September. Attendance was really good for our opening night with many new faces joining us to see what the club is all about.
The committee have put a lot of work over the summer raising the profile of
the club this season and it has certainly paid off.
Adam gave us a great presentation on the season upcoming events with contributions from Nicol, Matt, Ian & Laura. And of course big thanks to all the others who helped out on the night, especially Judy who provided us with a lovely Lemon drizzle cake to have with our Coffee & Teas.
We already have a few new members joining this season and hopefully some of the people who came will also join us.
If you didn't manage to make the evening and are still interested, you are very welcome to join us at any time.
